Self Care In The Time Of COVID-19: An Esthetician Shares 5 Tips for Coping
We find ourselves in unprecedented times. In fact, "unprecedented" is the term folks are most sick of hearing in 2020. Processing news and orders to shelter-in-place can lead many to feelings of stress, helplessness, and straight up panic, but it can also give opportunity to rest and restore your home and spirit.
Staying positive can be an insurmountable task, but I have found that with this newly granted downtime, I am able to focus on my self care routine. Here are a few practices I recommend for staying healthy in troubling times.
Drink More Tea
To keep some semblance of normalcy, I wake up with a cup of Yerba Mate tea. It's antioxidants far surpass that of green tea, and the energy is more sustaining that coffee for me (no afternoon crash here). It is also abundant in minerals and polyphenols essential for everyday nutrition.
I also love an herbal tea that boasts antioxidants and mood lifting abilities, like Ayla + MyHavtorn's Happy Tea.

Take a Bath
What better time to develop a lavish bathing ritual that right now. Light a few candles, put on some soothing music, and drop a SoulSpring CBD infused bath bomb into your bathwater. 100% natural hemp CBD soothes muscle aches and softens skin.

Hydrate Your Skin
While we are always encouraged to stay out of the sun and avoid UV damage, staying inside presents its own disadvantages. Indoor air can be stuffy and dehydrating, leading skin to feel dry and lackluster. I like to keep a vitamin-rich hydrating mist on hand to use throughout the day.

Move that Lymph
For me, dry brushing falls by the wayside when I'm busy, but this incredibly beneficial practice has found its way back into my routine. It boosts lymph flow, exfoliates, and improves the appearance of cellulite. I perform light and quick brushing motions inwards towards my heart, and follow with Sahajan's Ritual Body Oil.

These days hand sanitizer can be scarce. If you have to go out into the world, make sure to protect yourself with antiviral and antibacterial essential oils. I have always loved Cloud of Protection from By Nieves, a delicious-smelling, cleansing mist. It functions as an aura mist or natural hand sanitizer in a pinch.
